Bishop Pizarro made his novitiate in El Desierto de la Candelaria and professed religious vows there on 9th of January of 1970. He made his solemn profession of vows in the convent of Suba on the 20th of January of 1973. He received ordination to the priesthood in the parish church of the Immaculate Conception in Suba on the 2nd of January of 1977.
CHe had studied humanities in La Linda and philosophy at the University of St. Bonaventure in Bogota. He realized his theological studies at the Javeriana University, the Major Seminary of Bogota and in Marcilla.
He later updated his theological studies in courses taken at the University “Maria Cristina” in El Escorial, Madrid, Spain, and at the University of Navarra, Spain. He obtained his licentiate in theology from the Javeriana University in Bogota in 1992 and, from 1995 to 1997, he studied biblical theology at the Gregorian University in Rome.

– Master of novices and vice-prior of El Desierto de la Candelaria (1985-1989).
He was named provincial secretary and councilor in the Provincial Chapter of 1989. At the end of this period, he was again named master of novices in El Desierto de la Candelaria (1994-1995). He then studied biblical theology at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome (1995-1997). In the Provincial Chapter of 1997, he was elected provincial councilor and master of the professed at the house of theology in Suba and also served as President of the Secretariat of Vocations and Formation. He was serving in these capacities when Pope John Paul II, in the year 2000, named him Vicar Apostolic of Trinidad, Casanare.
On the 27th of January of 2001, he was consecrated bishop by Archbishop Beniaminno Stella in the Cathedral of Bogota. On the 11th of February of the same year he took possession as Vicar Apostolic of Trinidad.
