The Year of Holiness opens in the communities of the Order

On March 4, the communities of the Order united in prayer to inaugurate the Year of Holiness, under the motto «Called to be saints», to be held until November 13, 2017, feast of all Saints of the Order Of Augustinian Recollects. From America, going through Europe and even Asia, religious, lay fraternities and young people celebrated the vigil of prayer that remembered this call to be saints and inaugurated this year dedicated to holiness. In Rome, the communities of the General Curia and the International School of San Ildefonso also celebrated the vigil. The Prior General, Fr. Miguel Miró, lit a candle on the tomb of Father Jenaro Fernández, a religious in process of beatification, as a symbol of this commitment to aspire to holiness.

United in prayer

In the Eucharistic celebrations of Sunday, we began to pray the prayer of this year of holiness:

God our Father, all our hope is in your great mercy. We thank you and we bless your name. May your Spirit open our heart to conversion, A conversion that unites us to Jesus, That which will transform our way of thinking and living. Grant us the grace to become builders of communion, That we may channels of your peace in the Church and in the world. Make us sensitive to the needs of those who live without faith, That we be near to those who suffer and the poor. Give us humility and readiness to follow Jesus. May he fill our lives with hope, That fills our hearts with love for you. Infuse us, Father, with your Spirit in order to respond with joy to your call to holiness. You who live and reign for ever and ever. Amen
